Concluding and completing audit risk assessment

The audit risk assessment conclusion process prioritizes the auditable entities for your audit plan. You can add notes for each auditable entity and provide a conclusion to help with audit planning.

Select auditable entities to prioritize

One of the final processes of the audit risk assessment is to prioritize a subset of assessed active auditable entities for your audit plan. When you initially access the Conclusion page, it prompts you to start prioritizing auditable entities.

The Auditable entities matrix is populated with the included auditable entities, their overall scores, and assessment factors scored for each auditable entity.

Note

Each auditable entity's overall score is an average of its assessment factor scores.

  1. To select an auditable entity to prioritize, select the toggle in the Select column.

The selected auditable entity moves to the Prioritized auditable entities for audit section on top.

  2. Continue selecting auditable entities to prioritize.

The auditable entities are initially ranked based on the sequence of selection.

Change auditable entities' ranking

You can change the ranking order of auditable entities, (for example, move an auditable entity from the bottom of the list to the top). This feature provides discretionary flexibility to override the initial selection order.

To change the ranking of an auditable entity:

  1. Use the mouse to hover over the auditable entity's drag vertical icon in the Priority column.

The select arrow becomes a hand symbol, and the auditable entity's row is outlined.

  2. Click and hold the left mouse button on the auditable entity to drag it up or down to the desired ranking, and release.

The selection is re-ranked and the numbering changes in the Primary column to reflect the new order.

    Note

    These updates are automatically saved.

Remove auditable entities from the list of prioritized auditable entities

To remove a prioritized auditable entity, Select the Remove button inline with the auditable entity.

Note

  • This action also deletes associated notes. It does not delete the auditable entity or audit risk assessment scores.

  • You can also choose to Remove all prioritized auditable entities.

Manage Notes

You can add, edit, or delete notes from prioritized auditable entites.

Add note

Add notes to prioritized auditable entities to provide commentary regarding context, reminders, and so on.

  1. Select Add note in line with the auditable entity. The empty Add note… window displays.

  2. Enter the note.

  3. Select Save.

Edit note

Notes can be edited throughout the audit risk assessment.

  1. Select more options in-line with the comment and select Edit note.

  2. Edit the note and select Save.

Important

  • There is a one note limit for each prioritized auditable entity.

  • Any saved edits overwrite the previous note.

  • Data regarding the last update’s time and editor is stored.

Note

  • If an error message displays, it is likely due to a system issue. Try again. If it persists, contact technical support for assistance.

  • If you decide not to save the edits, select Cancel and follow the prompts.

Delete note

Delete the note by following the Edit note steps and select Delete note from the options window.

Conclusion entry field

After you have scored and ranked the auditable entities, provide your conclusion. Conclusions can provide a summation of the reasons behind the auditable entities’ scoring and ranking, important observations, mitigation recommendation and more.

Initially, the conclusion entry field is blank:

  1. Enter text.

  2. Select Save when you have completed your entry.

"The conclusion was successfully saved" popup displays, and Edit conclusion is added to the entry field.

If you attempt to complete an audit risk assessment with unsaved changes (for example, you write a Conclusion but don't save it), the "Unsaved changes" message displays.

Select Save changes to complete the audit risk assessment, or select Cancel to return and review your work.

  3. Select Edit conclusion to add, modify, or delete text.

  4. Select Save when you have completed your changes.

Note

  • Deleting all text returns the entry field to its original state.

  • You are not required to complete the conclusion in one sitting, however, once you select Mark as completed no further changes are possible.

Mark as completed

Mark as completed is the final step of your audit risk assessment.

Important

  • While you have the option to complete the audit risk assessment without writing a conclusion, it is highly recommended to write a conclusion, since the audit risk assessment justifies the requirements for the audit plan scope, time, and resources. This also gets printed on PDF when you export.

  • After an audit risk assessment is marked as completed, it becomes a permanent record. It cannot be changed or deleted, and it is not editable.

Use the following steps once you are ready to complete the audit risk assessment.

  1. Select Mark as completed.

The "Mark as completed" pop up displays.

  2. Select Continue.

  • The status updates to Completed.

  • The Export button is added to the page.

  • The Start planning button is also added. The button dropdown enables you to Add audit plan or Link to existing audit plan. Refer to audit planning.

Note

The completed audit risk assessment shows the conclusion (if one was added). You can also select Show note to view any added notes.

Revert to In progress

To change the status of an audit risk assessment from Conclude back to In progress, select the Revert to in progress button available on the top of the Conclusion page. This allows for further editing and modifications to be made to the assessment. When an assessment is in the Conclude status, certain fields become non-editable. By reverting it to In progress, these fields become editable again, enabling you to make necessary changes before finalizing the assessment.

Note

While this action changes the status of an audit risk assessment from Conclude to In progress, your notes and conclusion entries are still retained.
